Cabinet approves initial work towards the Hereford Bypass
Plans to progress with initial work on the Hereford Bypass were approved at a meeting of Herefordshire Councilís cabinet today, Thursday 16 June 2016.
Cabinet approved work to proceed appraisal of western route options, environmental and transport surveys and consultations.
Councillor Philip Price, cabinet member infrastructure said:
ďItís great news that we have taken swift action after the planning determination of the Southern Link Road (SLR). The Hereford Bypass is gaining momentum and we are pleased to proceed to the next stage.
This has been an historic month for Herefordís infrastructure plans, with the contract being awarded to Alun Griffiths Contractors for the City Link Road, the planning approval for the SLR and the Hereford Bypass being approved for progression today.
We have ambitious plans for the cityís development and all of these projects, once completed will assist in making Hereford a viable economic centre for businesses and an even better place for those who live and work in the city.Ē
The council is committed to early engagement with stakeholders and residents and consultation events are planned for autumn 2016 and 2017.
